Robert T. Angelier, DPM, FACFAS - Biography
- Diplomate, American Board of Podiatric Surgery
- Fellow, American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons
The story begins back in 1908 where John Angelier was born in Hell's Kitchen, New York City. This was not a kitchen, but a neighborhood where poor immigrants lived and times were tough. He grew up self-educated where it was said he helped support the family by transporting beer to stores during prohibition. He went on to a technical school to learn electrical engineering, going on to prosper being a foreman for the 1939 World's Fair in New York City. He was introduced to a young lady, Mary D'Amico, married, and was blessed with children, their last being Robert.
As Robert was growing up, his father was injured by a tractor blade, almost severing his leg. In the emergency room, only one family member at the age of 9 stayed with him - this was a time that set the wheels in motion for me. Of all the sons, only one went on to college. Dr. Angelier first tried engineering school for one year, then transferred to St. John's University, feeling that a field in medicine was his vocation. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in three years in 1973. This is where he met Elizabeth and they were married in 1975.
He received his doctorate of Podiatric Medicine in 1977, graduating from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine.
In 1978, he moved to Dallas, Texas to finish a residency in foot and ankle surgery. Loving the area, they decided to stay and raise three of their own.
Dr. Angelier became a Fellow of the American College of Foot Surgeons in 1985, served as the past president of the Dallas County Podiatric Medical Society from 1985 to 1986, and became Board Certified in foot and ankle surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery in 1988.
He has enjoyed serving the Dallas area since 1978 providing podiatric services to the community. Dr. Angelier has always had a strong commitment in leadership and support roles in his community, being past president of his church's Men's Club organization and coaching soccer and basketball youths in the local schools.
